Apa Batasan IMT (BMI)?

IMT (BMI) adalah pengukuran sederhana dan objektif, tetapi dapat menyesatkan dalam beberapa kasus dan untuk beberapa kelompok orang. Bagaimana IMT (BMI) dan Rasio Lingkar Pinggang terhadap Tinggi Badan Dapat Membantu Mengelola Kesehatan Jantung

Orang yang hidup dengan kelebihan berat badan atau obesitas memiliki risiko lebih tinggi terkena penyakit kardiovaskular (CVD), juga dikenal sebagai penyakit jantung.

Meskipun baik IMT (BMI) maupun Waist to Height Ratio (WHtR) dapat digunakan untuk menilai risiko seseorang terkena CVD, WHtR dianggap sebagai prediktor yang lebih kuat untuk faktor risiko kardiovaskular, seperti tekanan darah tinggi dan kadar kolesterol tinggi.

IMT (BMI) digunakan untuk menunjukkan kategori berat badan seseorang, berdasarkan tinggi dan berat badan mereka. WHtR, di sisi lain, digunakan untuk mengukur distribusi lemak tubuh seseorang, berdasarkan tinggi badan dan ukuran lingkar pinggang mereka.
